Ashford Cable Pull

ASHFORD CABLE PULL

Do You Have A Project We Can Help With?

Installation of a new 440V Supply to the CED building in Ashford, Kent.

IPS Power were employed by Kier to install a new 415volt supply to replace existing switchgear and cables which had time /life expired. This was the main electrical supply to the Network Rail engineering building complex located close to Ashford International Station.

The contract scope comprised supplying all cables and a new DNO cabinet together with commissioning tests and removal of an existing transformer made redundant due to the new works.

All cables were installed in a fully ducted system with five strategically placed pulling manholes built throughout the 350m long cable route

Two 415v cables were installed (4c 240sq mm and 4c 50sqmm) together with associated earth cables.

The excavation proved to be “testing” as it crossed the site of an old goods sidings which exposed many redundant services and disused railway infrastructure. Nevertheless, our safety record on the contract was exceptional with zero accidents and no damage to existing utilities.
